Wave of global opposition to continued aggression by US and Zionist regime against Iran

NOURNEWS – As the United States and the Zionist regime continue their attacks on Iran, opposition has spread from Madrid to Beijing and Moscow, and from the headquarters of the United Nations to the Shanghai bloc and even the US Congress. Warnings about disregard for international law and the risk of the region slipping toward a broader war have also grown more pronounced.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, in his latest remarks, said that Madrid will not become complicit in any action that would be harmful to the world and contrary to the values and interests of his country. He warned that humanity’s greatest catastrophes begin from precisely such points and that one cannot gamble with the fate of millions of people in a “Russian roulette.”

At the same time in the United States, Democratic senators and a number of Republicans have sought to challenge the course toward war from within Congress. Reuters reported that the US Senate is beginning the process of voting on a resolution aimed at halting the military campaign against Iran and requiring any continuation of hostilities to receive explicit authorization from Congress.

In Beijing, China’s Foreign Ministry has also rejected the continuation of the attacks in stronger language than in previous days. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in a telephone conversation with the Israeli side, called for the immediate end of the attacks and emphasized that the use of force does not resolve problems and often leaves heavy and long-term consequences.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, in a recent press briefing, also spoke of deep sorrow over civilian casualties and stressed that protecting civilians in armed conflicts is a red line. The spokesperson added that the use of force is unacceptable and that all parties must adhere to their obligations under international law.

In New York, the UN Secretary-General described the use of force by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran as an action that undermines international peace and security. Explicitly recalling the UN Charter, he called for an immediate halt to hostilities and de-escalation, warning that the continuation of the current course could lead to a broader regional conflict with serious consequences for civilians and regional stability.

Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Security Council described the attacks by the United States and the Zionist regime as an “aggressive act” and a “violation of the Charter.” Referring to the coincidence of the military operations with diplomatic processes, he called it a “betrayal of diplomacy” and urged the immediate cessation of such actions and a return to the political and negotiating track.
