China Warns: Extinguish the Futile Flames of War Against Iran

China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, stressed in a phone conversation with his French counterpart that Iran’s nuclear file must be brought out from under the shadow of war.

Nournews: During a telephone discussion with Jean-Noël Barrot, Wang Yi stated that the international community must oppose any actions that violate international law and avoid the use of double standards.

He added that major powers should not rely on their military superiority to attack other countries, and that the world must not return to the “law of the jungle.”

China’s foreign minister emphasized that the Iranian nuclear issue must ultimately return to a political and diplomatic track. He expressed hope that France, by maintaining an objective and fair approach, would work alongside China to steer the situation toward de-escalation and to safeguard the fundamental principles of international relations.

For his part, Jean-Noël Barrot outlined France’s position regarding the current situation in West Asia and stressed that Paris and Beijing, as two permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, bear a special responsibility for maintaining international peace and security.

Referring to U.S. and Israeli military actions against Iran as having been carried out without consultation or authorization from the Security Council, he said that under the current circumstances, all parties should strive to reduce tensions and resolve the Iranian nuclear issue and other disputes through negotiation.

The French foreign minister also pointed to China’s constructive relations with Iran and the Persian Gulf countries and expressed hope that Beijing, alongside Paris, would play an active role in calming the situation in the region.
