Speaking in a TV interview on Sunday, Larijani said the enemies inflicted various kinds of suffering on the Iranian nation due to economic pressures.
Referring to recent statements by a US President Donald Trump’s advisor about the Iranian people’s refusal to submit, Larijani said, “Witkoff later said that Trump is surprised why, despite all the facilities the US has provided, the Iranian nation is not afraid, why don’t they surrender, why are they not scared?”
Commenting on the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s background in struggle, he said Ayatollah Khamenei was the flag-bearer of the fight against Pahlavi regime; he endured imprisonment, was exiled, and then there was his struggle during the war, which was also a very extraordinary and dynamic chapter.
His efforts in various fields of administering the country, both during his presidency and his leadership, during which we have gone through many events, shaping him into a figure, fully adept at domestic and international conditions, he added.
This incident is very bitter, and the passing of a highly dignified figure has wounded all our hearts and plunged the nation into mourning, but the late Imam Khomeini said that such martyrdoms make the people more resilient.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani described Trump as a “symbol of plundering”.
Look at the case of Venezuela; as soon as they got involved, with an action that itself has a strange story, they immediately seized the oil and said with complete frankness that the oil there belonged to the US, it went to the US Treasury, and then it would give the Venezuelan nation as much money as the US wanted, he stated.
Israel is small; it doesn’t have abundant resources, it doesn’t have a great nation, it has no roots in this region, it has no hegemonic ideology; all around it are Islamic countries that are against it, although some governments stand by it, the nations despise it, he said stressing that the Israeli regime is seeking to dismember Iran.
When a large country like Iran exists, with an ancient history and a civilized nation, Israel has no choice but to disintegrate the country to establish its dominance over the region, Larijani stated.
The Americans must know that they stabbed the heart of the Iranian nation with a dagger; therefore, their hearts will be stabbed with a dagger, he warned.
The armed forces have provided very good capabilities between the previous war and the current war, and this is a very important capacity that guarantees Iran’s authority and will pave the grounds for the continuation of operations.
The Americans cannot bully the Iranian nation, he said, adding, “Iran was not and is not seeking war, but if a war is imposed on us, we will not let them walk away.”
“It was the second time that we were attacked at the negotiating table,” Larijani said.
The path of the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been peaceful, but they are not bound by any commitment, he added.
“We had previously told everyone and the countries in the region that we do not intend to attack them. However, when their country’s bases are used against us, we will target all the US bases and facilities in the region.”
