Will Employees Be Winners or Losers to Inflation Next Year?

NOURNEWS – The parliamentary Budget Integration Commission for the Iranian year 1405 (starting March) has approved a 20 percent increase in the salary coefficient, setting new amounts for government employees’ family allowance and child benefits—figures that will directly affect household incomes.

Under the commission’s approval for the 1405 budget, the salary coefficient for employees covered by the Civil Service Management Law will rise by 20 percent, an increase that will directly impact fringe benefits, including the family allowance and child benefits.

According to the announced resolution, and excluding any additional points stemming from implementation of the Sixth Development Plan, the family allowance assistance has been set at 3,625 points. Based on this calculation, the monthly family allowance payment will amount to approximately 25.3 million rials. This marks a noticeable increase compared with the current year and could help offset part of the financial pressure facing households.

The child allowance assistance has also been set at 2,967 points, equivalent to roughly 20.63 million rials per child per month. The increase comes as the country’s broader policy framework in recent years has focused on supporting families and encouraging population growth.

Experts believe that while the 20 percent rise in the salary coefficient represents a step toward restoring incomes, its real impact will depend on next year’s inflation rate and employees’ purchasing power. At the same time, the exclusion of additional points tied to the Sixth Development Plan from these calculations suggests that the final figures could change if other coefficients and supplementary provisions are applied.

Overall, the new resolution by the Budget Integration Commission can be seen as an effort to strengthen cost-of-living support for employee households—an initiative that, if accompanied by economic stability, could play a complementary role in improving welfare conditions.
