Mousavi made these remarks on Thursday night during a ceremony commemorating the 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
The event was attended by representatives from the British Foreign Office and Parliament, foreign ambassadors and diplomats, private sector representatives including merchants and industrialists, officials from financial institutions, university professors, students, and activists from various economic and scientific sectors.
He stated that Iran's National Day serves as a reminder of the collective decision and movement of the great Iranian nation to realize the right to self-determination and to achieve independence, freedom, democracy, and progress—all rooted in Islamic teachings and the rich Iranian culture and civilization.
The Islamic Revolution was a profound manifestation of the national will that ended an era of fear and dependence, restored genuine sovereignty, and placed people's political participation at the heart of the governance system.
Our country's ambassador added: "For nearly half a century, Iran has faced relentless pressure; from the eight-year imposed war and severe sanctions to acts of sabotage and terrorism. Nevertheless, by relying on domestic capabilities, national cohesion, and empowered human resources, it has achieved significant progress."
Regarding Iran's advancements in science and technology, he said: "Iran's position in knowledge production has steadily improved, knowledge-based companies have expanded, and significant breakthroughs have been achieved in advanced technologies and the healthcare sector."
Mousavi further added: "In the economic and production spheres, despite unjust sanctions and difficult global economic conditions, growth in industrial production, an increase in non-oil exports, strengthening of the tax base, and signs of movement toward a more diverse and resilient economy have become evident."
The Iranian Ambassador in London continued: "In the field of social services and infrastructure, the expansion of medical coverage, extensive self-sufficiency in medicine production, progress in national housing projects, improved access to various social services, and the development of communication infrastructure have all played an effective role in enhancing the quality of life for citizens."
