The defending champions, Iran, emerged victorious in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 held in Indonesia on Saturday.
Iran clinched the title with a 5-4 win in a penalty shootout after an exhilarating final that ended 5-5 following extra time.
This victory marks Iran's 14th championship title. The Iranian national team advanced to the finals by defeating Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan in the group stage. In the knockout rounds, they overcame Uzbekistan and Iraq.
On the other hand, the host country, Indonesia, reached the final after defeating South Korea and Kyrgyzstan in the group phase, followed by wins against Vietnam and Japan, despite having a draw with Iraq.
The 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup was held in Indonesia from January 27 to February 7, featuring 16 of Asia’s top national futsal teams vying for the region’s premier title.
