Iran dares Grossi to make brave decision

Tehran has called on the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency to fulfill his legal obligations and denounce attacks on Iran’s nuclear installations.

Speaking at a press briefing on Monday morning, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said Iran expects Grossi to, “for once,” explicitly condemn the illegal attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities under IAEA safeguards that were bombed by the Israeli regime and the United States in June 2025. He stressed that such condemnation should not be viewed as a moral statement, but as a legal obligation of the Agency.

Baghaei warned that failure to address such actions would inflict serious damage on the global non-proliferation regime and undermine the institutional credibility of the IAEA itself.

Addressing Iran’s engagement with the Agency, the spokesperson said communication between Iran and the IAEA remains ongoing whenever necessary. He noted that Iran’s mission in Vienna maintains dialogue with IAEA officials and that contacts also continue at other levels.

On the possibility of establishing a new framework for cooperation with the IAEA, Baghaei said that the matter requires discussion and exchange of views. However, he emphasized that currently, Iran’s interaction with the IAEA is conducted strictly in accordance with the law passed by the Iranian parliament, which clearly defines the framework.

On June 13, 2025, Israel launched a blatant and unprovoked aggression against Iran while Washington and Tehran were in a process of nuclear negotiations. The Israeli attack triggered a 12-day war that killed at least 1,064 people in the country, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and ordinary civilians.

The United States also entered the war by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of international law.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces targeted strategic sites across the occupied territories as well as the Al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military base in West Asia.

On June 24, Iran, through its successful retaliatory operations against both the Israeli regime and the US, managed to impose a halt to the aggression.
