Pezeshkian: Iran’s active role in BRICS, SCO, and EAEU unlocks economic opportunities

President Masoud Pezeshkian says Iran’s dynamic participation in international and regional blocs, including BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), helps create significant economic opportunities for businessmen and investors.

Addressing an annual conference on the Iranian capital market, themed “Resilience, Innovation, and Growth,” on Saturday, Pezeshkian said that the country’s diplomatic interactions with members of different groupings strengthen economic relations with neighbors and create a large market.

Referring to the capital market and macroeconomics, he noted that his administration is trying to prevent a budget deficit to facilitate economic activity and support investors’ work.

“In this year's budget, we are trying to compare the budget and revenue through the meetings, and trying to control expenses,” he said, adding that the government is attempting to remove obstacles by reforming and reviewing economic laws and regulations, because inflation puts pressure on people's livelihoods.

Pointing to imbalances in the areas of water, electricity, and gas, the president said that although industrialists and manufacturers were provided with sufficient electricity, there is a need to change the consumption pattern, including by turning to renewable energies.

He also urged the people to consume energy efficiently and qualitatively, so that the God-given resources reach all.

Elsewhere in his speech, Pezeshkian stressed the need for alignment between industrial production, universities, and the government in order to overcome crises faced by the country.
