A four-member delegation of prominent directors from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences met with Velayati in Tehran, Iran’s capital, on Tuesday.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on regional and international developments, bilateral cooperation, and ways to further deepen Iran-China relations.
Velayati noted the excellent level of relations between the two countries, stating, “Iran-China relations are at their best level; these relations are deep-rooted, stable, and strategic. The cooperation between Tehran and Beijing is on the right track and can serve as an effective model of constructive interaction among independent countries.”
He also emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation among the three powerful countries of Iran, China, and Russia. He identified confronting the United States’ unilateral and expansionist policies as a common priority for these countries.
For his part, Tang Zhichao, the Director of the Department of Political Studies at the Middle East Development and Governance Research Center, part of the Institute of West Asian and African Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), assessed the development and strengthening of relations between Iran and China as highly significant.
He said, “The root of many problems in the region lies in the destructive and interventionist policies of the United States. Close cooperation among independent countries can serve as a means to counter these approaches.”
Both sides also underscored the importance of continuing consultations and enhancing cooperation in scientific research, technology, and artificial intelligence between Iranian and Chinese research centers. They viewed the expansion of these interactions as a crucial step in deepening the strategic relations between the two countries.
