Iran launches fourth South Pars infill gas well, boosting output by 1.8 mcm/day

Iran has brought a fourth infill well at the giant South Pars gas field into operation, increasing gas output from the shared offshore field by 1.8 million cubic meters per day, a project official said.

Shobeir Nabavi, director of the South Pars infill drilling project, said the new well was completed in the border Phase 19 of the field after drilling to a depth of nearly 4,000 meters.

He added that four infill wells have been brought into full operation over the past eight months, raising production by about seven million cubic meters per day.

According to Nabavi, at least four more wells are expected to be drilled and commissioned by the end of the Iranian calendar year in March 2026, which would further boost gas output from the strategic field shared with Qatar.
