In a message posted on X, Motegi expressed sincere appreciation for the congratulatory message sent by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi following his appointment, noting, “Multi-layered and constructive dialogue between Japan and Iran, based on the longstanding and friendly relations between our two countries, is always ongoing.”
“I also intend to have close dialogue with you, who are among the most distinguished Iranian statesmen with deep knowledge of Japan,” the Japanese foreign minister added.
Motegi further stressed his willingness “to work with you wholeheartedly to further strengthen the longstanding and friendly ties between Japan and Iran, which were built by our predecessors.”
Highlighting the significance of regional peace, Motegi underlined that stability in West Asia is vital for the international community, including Japan, and said that Japan intends to continue its diplomatic efforts for peace and stability in West Asia.
On October 21, Araghchi had congratulated Motegi on his appointment, expressing confidence that “with your distinguished record and valuable experience, the friendly relations and longstanding cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the friendly country of Japan will further deepen and expand.”
The Iranian minister also voiced hope that, based on his own experience as ambassador to Tokyo, political, economic, and cultural exchanges between the two countries will develop in an atmosphere of mutual trust and understanding, helping to advance shared bilateral and international goals.
