Iran supports Eurasian Security Charter initiative

Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, has expressed the Islamic Republic’s support for the proposed Eurasian Security Charter during his remarks at the International Conference on Eurasian Security in Minsk.

In his speech on Tuesday, Khatibzadeh highlighted the shifting international structures and current challenges facing the global order, including the aggression of major powers against the foundations of international law. He pointed out the alarming militarization of the international arena, calling for renewed focus on strategic partnerships in the region.

Khatibzadeh, who is also the head of the Center for Political and International Studies at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attends the two-day conference, which has attracted around 200 guests from 40 countries.

The event, organized by the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also features representatives from seven international and regional organizations.

Notable speakers at the conference’s opening included the foreign ministers of Russia, Hungary, and North Korea, as well as the secretary-general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the secretary-general of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and senior officials from regional organizations and Eurasian countries.
