Iran wrestling team claims runner-up title at Karakucak World Championships

Iran's wrestling team finished as runner-up at the 2025 United World Wrestling (UWW) Karakucak World Championships in Turkey, with three silver and one bronze medal.

In this tournament, silver medals were won by Rahman Rahimpour in the 70 kg category, Abdollah Sheikh A’zami in the 80 kg category, and Mostafa Najafi in the +99 kg category. Additionally, Hossein Khodakarami secured a bronze medal in the 90 kg category.

The competition took place in the city of Maras, featuring participation from 25 countries.

Under the guidance of coach Jaber Sadeghzadeh, the Iranian team amassed a total of 61 points, earning them second place.

Turkey, the host nation, claimed the championship title with 90 points, while Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan finished in third and fourth place with 46 and 42 points, respectively.

Wrestlers from various countries participated in the event, including Turkey, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Georgia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Japan, Bosnia, Romania, Italy, Mexico, Panama, Brazil, Togo, Gambia, Greece, Egypt, Tunisia, Mongolia, Ivory Coast, Venezuela, and Lithuania.
