Mostafa Ghanei made the remarks on Friday during the specialized panel “Iran’s Biotechnology Ecosystem” in Sari, northern Iran.
He said that Iran currently ranks among the top five Asian countries in terms of the number of biotech products, and that the production of biopharmaceuticals has so far saved the country over $3.8 billion.
Ghanei further noted that the future of medicine was on the verge of a major transformation.
Referring to the establishment of 14 cell therapy and gene therapy centers nationwide, he called it a significant step toward advancing modern medicine, adding that in the near future, knowledge enterprises will become the central pillar of the healthcare system, leading to reduced treatment costs and increased public satisfaction.
