In an interview with IRNA on the sidelines of the 42nd TISFF on Friday, Palmen detailed the opportunities presented by the international film camp, emphasizing that the quality of creative work is the sole key to selection.
“The most important criteria for us are the quality of the script and the creative works; the academic background does not matter,” Palmen said, encouraging emerging and independent Iranian talents to apply.
The Film 7 Days project, which has been running in Kazan since 2019, is an intensive international short film competition, he said.
The Dutch juror, who has overseen over 150 films, said that the project brings together 10 selected teams who are tasked with creating a complete seven-minute film within one week, under the guidance of expert mentors.
Selected projects are guided from the initial script to the final production, to submit the finished films to global festivals, Palmen explained.
He highlighted the unique challenge and learning experience the program offers.
"Collaborating with local crew members in Kazan is a challenge for participants, but it is an invaluable exercise in cross-cultural filmmaking."
This marks the second time Iranian filmmakers have cooperated with the Kazan international film project, a fact Palmen noted with appreciation.
Palemn, who has collaborated with the European Film Academy, expressed his hope for a continued and deepening collaboration with Iran’s vibrant film community.
This program presents a curated selection of the best films, showcasing diverse landscapes, cultures, and characters from various countries, he said.
The 42nd TISFF, a key platform for emerging and established filmmakers, is currently underway at the Iran Mall Cinema Complex in the Iranian capital and will continue until October 24.
