Iran reports 8% y/y rise in poultry output in September

Iran has reported an 8% year on year increase in its poultry output in September amid growing domestic supplies and rising exports to other countries.

Figures by the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI) published on Monday showed that total poultry output in Iran had reached 223,409 metric tons (mt) in the calendar month to September 22.

The figures showed that Iran’s poultry production had increased by 3% compared to the previous calendar month.

The figures showed that chicken production, including hen and roosters, had accounted for more than 98% of the poultry output in Iran in September as production rose by 6.8% year on year.

Turkey and ostrich meat production in the country reached 2,867 mt and 125 mt, respectively, in September, up by 25% and 9% from September 2024, said the SCI.

Iran has seen a consistent rise in its white meat production in recent years amid higher prices of red meat and growing poultry exports to other countries.

Iranian poultry producers reported record export figures in the calendar year to late March with shipments mostly reaching the neighboring Iraq and other Arab countries in the region.

A senior official from Iran’s agriculture ministry said on Monday that Iran had produced more than 3 million mt of poultry meat in the past calendar year.
