Speaking at a specialized meeting titled “Legal Response to the 12-Day Aggression: From Criminal Justice to Restorative Justice,” Baghaei criticized the regime’s claims of preventive attacks as lacking legal legitimacy, asserting that Iran's response is a clear example of legitimate defense.
The spokesperson highlighted ongoing documentation efforts by the Foreign Ministry, which have been compiled into a book since the onset of the 12-day war imposed on Iran. Baghaei noted that the regime is accused of serious human rights violations but is shielded from accountability by Western states. He urged continued legal pursuits to uphold citizens’ rights and address these crimes effectively.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he revealed strong support from 120 countries for Tehran’s stance against Europe’s unlawful attempts to activate the snapback mechanism.
He called for legal writings on this matter, highlighting the unanimous support from those countries during the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Ministerial Meeting in Uganda. He noted that the legal chaos created by the European nations undermines the integrity of the UN Security Council.
Baghaei stressed that these efforts lack legal standing, as significant opposition exists within the UN Security Council, particularly from permanent members China and Russia.
