Iranian volleyball player Saber Kazemi in Coma after training

Saber Kazemi, an Iranian volleyball player, was hospitalized Friday night following a brain-related incident after a training session in Qatar.

According to Mehr News Agency, Saber Kazemi, the Iranian volleyball star who plays for Al Rayyan in Qatar in the 2025–26 season, lost consciousness yesterday while recovering in a swimming pool. He was resuscitated by medical staff and immediately transferred to a hospital. He is currently under medically induced sleep for treatment, following doctors’ recommendations and prescribed medications.

Medical reports confirm that all of Kazemi’s organs, including his heart, lungs, and liver, are fully healthy. He is under intensive care in one of Doha’s hospitals.

Following the REPORTS, Seyed Milad Taghavi, President of the Iranian Volleyball Federation, contacted his Qatari counterpart to request immediate follow-up. The Qatar Volleyball Federation and Al Rayyan Club assured that they would make every effort to ensure the full recovery of the Iranian athlete.

Taghavi requested Ali Al-Ghawari his Qatari counterpart to personally oversee Kazemi’s care and, if necessary, transfer him to Doha’s most equipped hospital for intensive treatment.
