According to Al Mayadeen, the Russian foreign ministry stated that cooperation between Russia and Iran will continue based on Russian law and international obligations, emphasizing that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between the two countries provides a solid foundation for future collaboration.
The statement urged all parties involved to focus on preventing new tensions, adding that Moscow is ready to facilitate this process using all available tools.
As cited by RIA Novosti, the ministry further noted that European attempts to reimpose UN sanctions on Iran, which were lifted under Resolution 2231, have failed.
UNSC Resolution 2231, which endorsed the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), came into effect on October 18, 2015, and its 10-year validity ends on Saturday. As a result, all arms and missile-related restrictions stipulated in the resolution are now lifted under international law — making recent European claims about maintaining certain restrictions legally baseless.
