Iran hopes to be removed from FATF blacklist soon: Top official

Vice President for Executive Affairs Mohammad Mohammad Jafar Ghaempanah has expressed hope that the United States would “not act maliciously” so that Iran’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) blacklist would take place soon.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting on Wednesday in Tehran, Ghaempanah said joining the FATF had long been one of the country’s priorities.

He described the ratification of a bill on Iran’s accession to the Palermo and CFT conventions as a major achievement despite its delay.

He also hailed President Masoud Pezeshkian’s policy of national consensus, saying it helped achieve unity and paved the way for the approval of Iran’s membership in the two international conventions.
