Iran's VP urges governors to prioritize regional exports amid economic reforms

Iran's First Vice President, Mohammad-Reza Aref, underscored the government's commitment to boosting exports to neighboring countries during a nationwide governors' conference on October 13.

He highlighted that such exports are "a priority" for the administration, noting that neighboring nations are "well-prepared" to enhance bilateral relations.

Aref commended the Ministry of the Interior and border governors for their effective management of this year's Arbaeen pilgrimage, which proceeded without incident. He also praised the decentralization efforts, stating that each governor should function as "the president of their province," reflecting the government's strategy of devolving authority to local levels.

Addressing the nation's economic challenges, Aref acknowledged the need for reforms, particularly in areas experiencing imbalances. However, he emphasized that these reforms must be implemented without adversely affecting vulnerable populations. He asserted that any economic adjustments should be accompanied by social safeguards to ensure public welfare.

The vice president also discussed the government's preparedness for unforeseen circumstances, referencing the 12-day conflict that tested the nation's resilience. He noted that the administration had anticipated such situations and had developed contingency plans to maintain stability and meet the public's needs.

Concluding his remarks, Aref reiterated the government's focus on regional exports, urging governors to leverage opportunities with neighboring countries to both meet domestic needs and expand Iran's export markets.
