Iran grabs four medals in 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi

Iran's national visually impaired and blind athletics team has received two gold and two silver medals at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi.

Amir-Hossein Alipoor and Hassan Bajoulvand ranked first in the shot put and discus throw categories, respectively. Mehdi Olad also snatched a silver medal in the shot put category.

In the track-and-field 400m section, Hajar Safarzadeh, suffering from a severe cold and lung involvement, received a silver medal.

Safarzadeh also ranked second in the women's 200-meter T12 class with a time of 25.21 seconds and did not advance to the final.

Fatemeh Amirzadegan was excluded from the competitions due to a lack of necessary documentation.

According to the World Para Athletics website, the Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium hosted over 1,000 athletes during the New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships.

It was the 12th edition of the World Para Athletics Championships and the largest Para sport event ever held in India.

The New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships competition programme has featured 186 medal events (101 men's, 84 women's, and one mixed), 15 more than at the last edition of the championships in Kobe.
