The statement was released on Saturday, marking the first anniversary of the assassinations of Hezbollah Martyr Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, both assassinated last year in separate attacks by the Israeli regime.
In its statement, the foreign ministry called the assassination a blatant act of terror aimed at undermining an independent UN member state.
The ministry said, undoubtedly, punishing the Zionist perpetrators for this crime will remain a pivotal demand from regional nations.
Moreover, the foreign ministry emphasized Nasrallah's influential role over three decades in leading Lebanon’s resistance against foreign aggression and occupation.
Tehran reiterated its unwavering support for Beirut, calling upon regional countries to recognize the escalating threat posed by the Zionist regime’s expansionism and to bolster Lebanon’s stability, security, and sovereignty.
The foreign ministry's statement highlighted that advanced American weaponry was used in the murder operation that led to Nasrallah's martyrdom in the residential areas of Beirut.
It condemned the crime, calling the perpetrators an "eternal burden" on the region and the free people.
Reflecting on Nasrallah’s legacy, the statement noted, “During Lebanon's resistance, Martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah played a decisive role in enhancing Lebanon's authority and establishing its deterrence against foreign aggression.”
It criticized the Zionist regime’s expansionist policies as a dangerous game affecting regional dynamics.
Additionally, the statement honored other resistance leaders, including Martyr Brigadier General Abbas Nilforushan, the Deputy Commander for Operations of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), recognizing their contributions to defending Lebanon and supporting the Palestinian cause against aggression.
The foreign ministry, citing its historical support for Lebanon, called on the international community to take meaningful steps against the hegemony and aggression of dominant powers, aiming to protect the region’s integrity and the stability of Lebanon.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been a strong and honorable supporter of Lebanon and is expected to protect the entire region from the growing danger caused by Israeli expansionism and lawlessness,” the statement said.
In conclusion, Tehran reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Lebanon against potential threats and ensuring the nation's sovereignty and security in the face of ongoing challenges.
