Washington unmasked: Israel first, Arabs on the sidelines

Marco Rubio’s visit to the occupied territories comes at a time when both internal and external crises facing the Israeli regime have intensified. The United States seeks, by bolstering its embattled ally, to overshadow global and regional resistance to the occupation.

Nournews: Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, is focusing on Washington’s priorities in the Gaza conflict during his September 13–18 trip to Israel. The main objectives of his visit are the return of hostages and ensuring that Hamas does not regain control of Gaza. This trip coincides with the review of “Gideon Chariots 2” operations and efforts to counter international legal actions against Israel. Meetings with the hostages’ families also highlight the humanitarian aspect of the visit, yet field realities indicate that U.S. support for Israel is primarily political and psychological.

Strategic failures of Israel and the U.S.
Palestinian resistance operations and surprise attacks against the occupiers have repeatedly inflicted failures on the Israeli regime. Even with U.S. backing, the goals of occupation and the liberation of Israeli captives have not been achieved. Rubio’s visit is less a sign of Israeli strength than a reaction to domestic crises and setbacks in the face of Gaza’s resistance. Heavy casualties and losses—including Iran’s attack on the Weizmann Institute—send a clear message about the ineffectiveness of U.S. support and the limitations of Israel’s military capacity.

Crisis of trust among Arab countries
Rubio’s visit comes amid Israel’s military aggression in Qatar and threats from Turkey and Egypt, which have strained U.S. relations with its Arab allies. Washington’s promises to safeguard regional security are largely rhetorical; in practice, its priority remains Israel and the maintenance of its machinery of occupation. This deceptive policy has undermined Arab countries’ trust and shows that the U.S. is neither a guarantor of regional security nor capable of countering Israeli aggression.

Regional unity as the only option
The expansion of Israeli aggressions and U.S. incapacity have pushed the region toward unity around the Palestinian cause. Establishing a joint operations command, severing ties with the occupying regime, applying economic pressure, and participating in global support for Palestine are the only ways to reduce threats and prevent new heavy costs for regional countries. The OIC ministerial meeting in Doha on Monday could lay the practical foundation for this approach, demonstrating that inaction in the face of Israeli aggression will have irreparable consequences.
