Pezeshkian concluded his visit to China on Wednesday, heading back to Tehran after participating in the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of State Summit and the SCO Plus meeting.
“We must resist the bullying of those countries that are opposed to the friendly relations between Iran and China,” Pezeshkian said in Beijing where he met Huang Hu, a permanent member of the Chinese Communist Party.
Pezeshkian also emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation, characterizing the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as an effective tool to counter unilateralism.
He went on to say that humanity yearns for justice, fairness, and adherence to the rule of law, adding that the foundation of global civilization is rooted in the rich history and culture of nations like Iran and China, and through these civilizations, nations can coexist with dignity.
Pezeshkian further said Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has mandated the Iranian administration to prioritize ties with China, expressing hope that a joint working group would soon accelerate the implementation of bilateral agreements.
The Chinese official, for his part, expressed appreciation for Iran’s positive assessment of the recent SCO summit in Tianjin, saying Beijing is ready to operationalize the understandings reached between the two sides.
He added that China will continue to support Iran on matters concerning sovereignty and national interests, as it has done in the past.
The permanent member of the Chinese Communist Party also highlighted the commitment of both sides to enhance practical cooperation, denouncing coercive tactics in international relations.

He also pointed out that both nations share perspectives on global governance and are opposed to hegemony, a policy which he stated facilitates the expansion of their cooperation.
During his trip, which began on Sunday, Pezeshkian attended a large military parade in Beijing marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Two. He delivered speeches at both the SCO Heads of State Summit and the SCO Plus meeting held in Tianjin.
In addition to multilateral engagements, Pezeshkian held bilateral talks with leaders from China, Russia, Turkey, Tajikistan, Pakistan, and also met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
The Iranian president also met with a group of Iranian expatriates during his visit.
