Foreign Ministry hails MEP for exposing Israel’s Gaza crimes, aggression on Iran

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei says recent comments by Michael McNamara, a member of the European Parliament, have uncovered Israel’s hostile actions in the Palestinian territories and Iran.

“Michael Michael rightly exposed Israel’s war crimes and genocide in Gaza, its repression in the West Bank, and its criminal act of aggression against Iran,” Baghaei said on his X account on Tuesday.

"This is what E3/EU need to heed if they want to be regarded as credible, responsible, and law-abiding actors capable of contributing to world peace,” the Iranian diplomat further said in his post.

The E3 refers to Britain, Germany, and France, which are members of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. Last week, the trio informed the United Nations Security Council that they had invoked the so-called snapback mechanism. The mechanism, if approved by the Security Council, would restore its sanctions against Iran, which had been terminated under the agreement. Iran says the E3 move has no legal basis, and warned against the consequences.

Michael McNamara, in a speech at the European Parliament several days ago, said that Israel is no longer involved in a defensive war in Gaza, but in war crimes there. He also said Israel’s June attack on Iran was not defensive but an “unlawful and unprovoked strike designed to subvert the negotiations”  that were taking place between Iran and the United States over the Iranian nuclear program.
