He made the remarks in a letter to Hissein Brahim Taha, the secretary-general of the OIC; Hakan Fidan, the foreign minister of Turkey; and Faisal bin Farhan, the foreign Minister Saudi Arabia, urging the convening of an emergency OIC session to address the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
Araghchi wrote that based on the latest statistics and reports from all credible humanitarian organizations and media sources, the civilian population in Gaza is facing a situation that can only be described with one word: genocide.
He also said that the high-ranking officials of the Israeli regime have openly talked about eliminating Gaza’s political identity, displacing the entire Palestinian population, and occupying the territory permanently.
He urged the OIC to convene an emergency meeting to examine the ongoing humanitarian disaster in Gaza, coordinate immediate aid efforts, assess the legal and political dimensions of Israel’s intent to permanently occupy the region, adopt a unified stance and implement practical measures, including diplomatic, legal, and economic tools, to halt the aggression and ensure Israel’s accountability.
