Directed and written by Babak Khajeh-Pasha, the film tells the story of a fractured family trying to reconnect. It explores emotional bonds between parents and children through what the jury called “a delicate yet powerful lens.”
Lead actress Maral Baniadam was singled out for her performance, described as a “pillar of emotional depth” in the film, ILNA reported.
Produced by Mohammadreza Mesbah and Sajad Nasrollahi-Nasab, the film is a joint project of Iran’s Soureh Cinema Organization and the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults.
It has already picked up several awards at both domestic and international festivals.
The Within the Family Festival, one of the leading global showcases for family- and child-centered films, draws entries from across the world to spotlight stories about human connection, childhood, and family values.
The jury, composed of established filmmakers and international critics, praised ‘In the Arms of the Tree’ for its “authentic emotional arc” and strong visual storytelling.
The film’s international distribution is handled by Soureh International Center.
