Iran protests the presence of the Zionist regime at the meeting
Amir Saeed Iravani, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, said that the Zionist regime has no legal or procedural jurisdiction to attend the meeting. “The Zionist regime is neither a supporter of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) nor related to Resolution 2231. Its presence is inconsistent with the established practices of the Security Council.”
He said that Resolution 2231 will end in October 2025. “The unilateral withdrawal of the United States from the JCPOA in 2018 and the imposition of illegal, extraterritorial sanctions constitute a flagrant violation of Resolution 2231. Iran has remained committed to its obligations, but the United States, backed by Britain, France, and Germany, has repeatedly violated the contents of the JCPOA and the resolution.”
He added that the roots of the current situation are completely clear; therefore, Western countries are in no position to accuse Iran of non-compliance.
Iran protests illegal attacks by the US and Israel: It is disappointing that the Security Council has not condemned these attacks
Iravani said that Israel is the only holder of unacknowledged nuclear weapons in the region and is not a member of the NPT. Israel does not accept inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency. Meanwhile, Iran is under the most rigorous supervision of the agency, which is fully in accordance with the NPT.
Iran’s representative said that “the violation of Resolution 2231 is not confined to Israel. The United States – as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, which is responsible for enforcing resolutions – has also targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities that are under safeguards.”
He added that a decade after the approval of Resolution 2231, Iran’s peaceful nuclear sites are still being targeted by the United States and Israel.
Iravani said it is disappointing that the Security Council has not condemned these illegal attacks, even in accordance with the explicit terms of Resolution 487.
He urged the Security Council to condemn the violations and guarantee that such actions will not be repeated.
Iran: Europeans’ claims about Iran’s imminent achievement of a nuclear weapon are a lie
Iravani said that while the United States, Britain, and France have kept their large nuclear arsenals and ignore Israel’s undeclared stockpiles, they propose baseless accusations against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program. “The claim that Iran violated Resolution 2231 is baseless.” The resolution must end by October 2025, in accordance with the schedule and without return. Iran rejects any attempt to revive the expired contents under any accusation.
Iravani added that unfortunately, the European countries involved in the JCPOA have not only failed to meet their obligations but are also contributing to a toxic atmosphere through their false claims about Iran’s imminent access to nuclear weapons. This is while there is no valid document to support these claims, and Iran’s nuclear program is under complete fact-checking.
Iran: We have stood proud against military assault; diplomacy is the only solution to Iran’s nuclear crisis
Iravani said that Iran has never been the country that initiated war and has only responded to assaults within the legal framework of legitimate and lawful defense.
He added, “When the violators stopped their assaults, Iran ended its military response. However, we will not remain silent in the face of double standards and deceit. Our brave armed forces are ready to respond to any threat or new violations.”
Iravani said: “These assaults have led to the martyrdom of hundreds of innocent people, including women, children, nuclear scientists, athletes, students, aid workers, and law enforcement officials. Many more have been injured.”
He said that Iran has stood proud against these violations.
The U.S. Representative to the UN: U.S. attacks aim at destroying Iran’s threats against Israel and the region!
The U.S. Representative to the United Nations claimed that Iran violates its obligations and supplies weapons to the Yemeni Houthis and Hezbollah in Lebanon. He added that Iran has given thousands of drones to Russia to be used against Ukraine. He also said that Iran has accelerated its nuclear program.
“Some members have closed their eyes to Iran’s lack of commitment. Iranians have recently refused to reach a deal to refrain from developing nuclear weapons.”
He said, “We must urge Iran to take advantage of the peace opportunity provided by Donald Trump to ensure greater welfare.”
France: Iran has more than 400 kg of 60% enriched uranium—enough for 9 bombs
The Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations said, “We Europeans have honored our obligations under the JCPOA, despite the U.S.’s withdrawal from the deal. We asked the Iranians to remain committed to their obligations.”
He added, “We made a proposal in 2022, but they did not accept the outcomes. The Director General of the IAEA said he could not confirm that Iran was not moving toward developing nuclear weapons. Iran has ballistic missile programs and could potentially use them for warheads.
We urge Iran to allow the IAEA to continue its inspections so it can be confirmed that the enriched material has not been replaced. We urge Iran to return to the negotiating table.”
France said that it, along with the E3, wants to reach a deal under Resolution 2231.
Russia: Iran has the right to self-defense and uranium enrichment under the NPT
The Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN strongly condemned Israel’s attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling it a violation of the UN Charter and the NPT.
Russia also criticized Israel’s presence at the meeting, as it is not a member of the NPT. He added that Iran has not been able to benefit from the sanction’s relief promised under the deal.
Russia harshly criticizes European hypocrisy
He said the U.S.’s withdrawal from the JCPOA and the failure to lift sanctions rendered the deal ineffective. “Iran is the country with the highest number of IAEA inspections, and the Agency has not found any evidence indicating that Iran aims to build nuclear weapons.”
He added that European hypocrisy led the UN Board of Governors to issue a resolution against Iran, which was followed by attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities by Israel and then the U.S.
Russia: Israel acted as a proxy for Germany / Grossi’s reports were personal interpretations
The Russian Representative to the UN said that the German Chancellor confirmed Israel was doing the dirty work on their behalf. He reiterated that Tehran was negotiating, and just two days before the talks, it was attacked.
He said that the U.S. cannot invoke the snapback mechanism because it has withdrawn from the JCPOA. Russia called for the preparation of a detailed report on the attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites.
He emphasized that Iran’s nuclear issue can only be resolved through diplomacy and peaceful solutions. He said Russia, Pakistan, and China have proposed a new resolution to establish a sustainable truce.
Britain: Iran’s enriched uranium is 40 times higher than what was determined in the JCPOA / We urge Iran to cooperate with the Agency
The British Representative to the United Nations said that they want all parties to respect the truce.
“Peace is our priority in the Middle East. Diplomacy is the only solution to reach a sustainable outcome. Iran must not keep the window of diplomacy closed. We welcome all international strategies to ensure that Iran is not seeking to develop nuclear weapons.”
China: Israel and the U.S. pose a serious threat to global peace
China’s Representative to the UN condemned Israel’s and the U.S.’s military actions against Iran’s nuclear facilities as a very serious threat.
He said that these attacks make the implementation of Resolution 2231 difficult.
China said, “The U.S. began this crisis by withdrawing from the JCPOA in 2018 and initiating the maximum pressure campaign.”
China said that the U.S. has weakened the mechanism of diplomacy. He said, “We urge the U.S. and Israel to consider the consequences of their irresponsible acts. The main priority is to stop the conflicts; using force is not an appropriate strategy. A sustainable truce can help.”
China said that Iran has the right to use peaceful nuclear energy.
“A political solution can resolve the problems. We believe Iran has the right to use nuclear energy peacefully.”
China said it would defend nuclear negotiations because the use of military tools endangers all diplomatic efforts.
