Speaking to worshippers gathered for Friday prayers, al-Sadr stated that the assault was carried out due to what he called a “mad decision” by Trump. He went on to explain that, according to the teachings of his revered father (may his soul rest in peace), decisions to wage war on various countries—especially the Islamic Republic of Iran—are ultimately driven by the will of the U.S. president.
Al-Sadr continued, “Such unjust decisions inevitably return, through divine power, to the very person who made them, bringing negative consequences upon them—as we’ve seen with U.S. presidents like Carter and Bush, who suffered consequences for the injustices they committed against Muslims and the peoples of the region.”
Referring to the actions of the Israeli regime, al-Sadr said, “Although the Zionists are often violent and oppressive, such attacks on Iran and other regional countries—including Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, and Yemen—only happen when there’s a reckless decision by someone like Trump.”
Following his remarks, thousands of Sadr Movement supporters gathered for Friday prayers in Sadr City at al-Sadr’s invitation, chanting slogans against both the United States and the Israeli regime in a public show of protest.
