Nournews: Situated in the southwest of Kohgiluyeh and Boyerahmad Province, the city of Basht is one of the most ancient districts of Iran, dating back to the Elamite and Achaemenid eras.

The city has been mentioned in the writings of Naser Khosrow under the names “Bast” or “Basht.”

Basht is located 110 kilometers from Yasuj, the capital of Kohgiluyeh and Boyerahmad. Most of its population belongs to a branch of the Lur ethnic group known as the “Bavi tribe” (Ill in Persian). They speak the Lori language.
