Visible Unwritten Law: Permissible Blood, Sacred Blood

NOURNEWS – In a world where the systematic massacre of tens of thousands in Gaza goes unanswered, yet a single incident in the West sets off a storm of political and media alarms over antisemitism, a fundamental question arises: Why is Muslim life deemed so expendable in the international order?

20 Months of Atrocity, 20 Months of Complicity

Since the beginning of the Gaza war on October 7, 2023, nearly 20 months have passed—months during which the Israeli military has carried out an unprecedented slaughter of civilians. Over 50,000 people, mostly women and children, have died due to relentless bombardments, food blockades, collapsed healthcare services, and the destruction of vital infrastructure. And yet, despite the overwhelming body of evidence, not a single senior Western official has dared to explicitly call this catastrophe what it is: genocide, or at the very least, anti-Muslim violence. Against this deafening silence, only a handful of tepid, ineffectual, and mostly symbolic responses have emerged.

Show of Human Rights: Selective, Hollow, and Unjust

If a verbal threat targets an Israeli official, or a minor incident occurs in the West involving a Jewish individual, an avalanche of statements, sanctions, resolutions, and media campaigns swiftly follows. These rapid responses stand in stark contrast to the indifference toward the daily genocide in Gaza. This blatant double standard conveys one thing clearly: human rights are not a universal principle but rather a political tool wielded at the convenience of Western powers.

Symbolic Reactions: Sedatives for Public Opinion

A few countries and international bodies—including the United Nations—have made seemingly critical statements during this time, but these are largely attempts to ease domestic public pressure, not to halt war crimes. Meanwhile, the very governments issuing such statements continue to provide Israel with weapons, intelligence, and diplomatic backing. This contradiction is not merely political hypocrisy—it is structural duplicity, emblematic of a global order rapidly losing its moral legitimacy.

From Washington to Tel Aviv: Complicity in Crime

A striking example of this contradiction is Donald Trump’s reaction to the killing of two employees of the Israeli regime’s embassy in Washington. Just hours before their deaths, these individuals had publicly defended the bombing of Yemen. Yet immediately after the incident, Trump labeled it an act of “antisemitism” and called for urgent action. The same figures, however, remain silent—or worse, justify the massacre of thousands of Palestinian children as “legitimate self-defense.” While the global conscience slumbers, as hospitals and schools in Gaza are turned into military targets and millions face famine and displacement, the UN Security Council has failed to pass even a single binding resolution.

Institutions that once claimed to represent the moral conscience of humanity have now become powerless bystanders—or, in some cases, outright accomplices. Their silence is soaked in blood.

Collapse of the West’s Moral Legitimacy

This selective approach to human suffering has not only shaken global confidence in international institutions but has also shattered the West’s moral authority on claims of freedom, human rights, and justice. Today, Gaza stands as a stark mirror reflecting this ethical collapse—a place where the value of human life is no longer measured by dignity, but by power and identity.
