Nournews: Ali Shamkhani, former Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, commented on the recent threats and psychological operations by the U.S. against Iran, as well as reports regarding the transfer of certain military equipment to the region. He stated that since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, the U.S. has employed a combined strategy against Iran, including military threats, psychological operations, interference in Iran’s internal affairs, and mobilizing its so-called allies against Iran—an approach that is not new.
He added, "We are not unfamiliar with this American strategy, which has been in place against Iran for over 45 years."
In response to U.S. threats, the former security official asserted that Iran takes every threat seriously, not for surrender but for counteraction. "The Iranian nation has never accepted surrender and never will. We believe that the U.S. has no option but to adopt a fair and just logic in its negotiations with Iran," he said.
Regarding Iran’s response to Trump's letter, which was sent yesterday, Shamkhani stated that the reply was prepared by various relevant institutions in the country and described Iran’s response as "restrained."
He added that the response was sent to the Americans through the Omani channel, despite the U.S. having a different channel in mind. However, Iran preferred to send its reply via Oman.
Commenting on the content of the response, Shamkhani noted that Iran has always engaged in indirect negotiations with the U.S. Therefore, the letter affirms Iran’s readiness for such talks, emphasizing that if negotiations take place on an equal footing, Iran would be open to taking further steps in the dialogue process.
