Joint trilateral announcement of Iran, China and Russia

Nournews: Iran and Russia expressed their appreciation for China's constructive role and its hosting of the Beijing meeting.

1.The Beijing meeting among China, Russia, and Iran was successfully held on March 14, 2025. The meeting was presided over by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu, with the participation of Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharib Abadi and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov.

2.China, Iran, and Russia discussed the latest developments regarding the nuclear issue and the removal of sanctions. The three countries emphasized the necessity of lifting all illegitimate and unilateral sanctions.

3.The three countries reiterated that diplomatic and political interactions, as well as negotiations based on the mutual principle of respect, are the only valid options in this regard.

4.The three countries stressed that the relevant parties must address the root causes of the current situation and refrain from imposing sanctions, exerting pressure, or threatening the use of force.

5.The three countries underscored the importance of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231, including its scheduled timelines. They called on the relevant parties to avoid any actions that could escalate tensions, ensuring a conducive environment for diplomatic efforts.

6.The three countries highlighted the importance of respecting the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons as the cornerstone of the international non-proliferation regime. China and Russia welcomed Iran's reaffirmation that its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes and not for weapons production. They also welcomed Iran's commitment to full compliance with its obligations under the Non-Proliferation Treaty and the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement. Additionally, they expressed support for Iran’s policy of continued cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and emphasized the necessity of fully respecting Iran's right, as a state party to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, to the peaceful use of nuclear energy. The three countries also stressed the importance of all states refraining from actions that could undermine the technical, impartial, and objective activities of the IAEA.

7.Iran and Russia acknowledged China’s constructive role and its efforts in hosting the Beijing meeting. The three countries agreed to continue their close consultations and cooperation in the future.

8.The three countries also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest. They agreed to maintain and enhance their cooperation in international organizations and multilateral frameworks, such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS.
