“Based on existing laws and in light of the assertions that have been made by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, some precise planning has gone underway towards setting up nuclear power plants on the country’s southern coastline, namely in the Bushehr, Khuzestan, Hormozgan, and Sistan and Baluchestan Provinces, as well as across the northern littoral aras, such as the Golestan Province,” Mohammad Eslami stated on Tuesday.
Over the next 17 years, the planning would lead to generation of 20,000 megawatts of nuclear electricity, he added.
The official considered the Bushehr facility to be among the country’s “superior capacities” in the area of energy production, which has contributed to reducing the nation’s energy costs by preventing consumption of 105.7 million barrels of oil.
The facility has, over the recent years, made significant advances, leading to production of as much as 7,400,000,000 kilowatts of nuclear electricity, according to Eslami
The country, he added, planned on enhancing its nuclear electricity production capacity three times.
“The current year is the 50th year of establishment of the country’s nuclear organization,” Eslami noted, adding that there were many alleys that were yet to be explored in the area of nuclear industry.
‘Leader’s insightful attitude towards nuclear industry’
Eslamic hailed the Leader’s profoundly insightful approach towards the country’s nuclear industry.
“Over the recent years, through the profound perceptiveness of Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the nuclear industry and technology has been addressed once more as the propelling force behind various sciences and technologies,” he said.
As a result, some essential steps have been taken towards the nuclear industry’s progress and expansion, he added.
The official also commended the Islamic Republic’s breaking the monopoly of the world’s arrogant and imperialist powers in the area of nuclear technologies.
“Over these years, multiple instances of political pressure was employed against the country in the international arena, since we entered the forbidden area of modern technologies, which used to be under the jurisdiction of the imperialist global establishment.”
The world’s arrogant powers, he added, have been trying to prevent the Islamic Republic’s progress in the area of nuclear technology and industry by resorting to bluster and alarmism.
“They created many obstacles in the way of Iran’s nuclear industry following the victory of the country’s Islamic Revolution,” Eslami noted, regretting that the approach continued to last.
