Iraq's role in the post-Assad developments

The U.S. aims to present the fall of Assad's government and the resulting insecurity and instability in Syria as an indirect lesson for the Iraqi government and its people.

Nournews: Recent days have seen sensitive developments in West Asia. On one side, Western military forces and armed terrorist groups dominate Syria. On the other, the Zionist regime exploits Syria's political and security instability by destroying its military infrastructure and occupying parts of the country. Meanwhile, the U.S., with its Secretary of State visiting the region, seeks to use Syria's recent events to solidify its military goals and those of Israel in Syria and Iraq.

One key aspect of Antony Blinken's visit to the region is to lay the groundwork for a large-scale propaganda campaign aimed at disrupting Iraq's internal unity and weakening its position in the Resistance Front. Claims such as Blinken urging the Iraqi Prime Minister to counter resistance groups and prevent weapons transfers to Syria are part of this propaganda. The U.S. intends to indirectly portray Assad's downfall and Syria's instability as a cautionary tale for Iraq's leadership and people.

Iraq and the achievements of Resistance
For the Iraqi people, December 10th marks the historic 2017 victory over ISIS, a victory that left lasting lessons:

Role of religious leadership: Ayatollah Sistani’s 2014 jihad fatwa, issued during ISIS’s invasion of Iraq, played a vital role in mobilizing the people and defeating terrorism.
Formation of Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces): This grassroots resistance force, alongside the Iraqi army, became a powerful tool against terrorism and continues to ensure Iraq’s security.
Contributions of Resistance leaders: Commanders like Martyrs Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis devised effective strategies to defeat ISIS. Even Masoud Barzani, President of Iraqi Kurdistan, acknowledged that Soleimani’s support saved Erbil from falling.
America’s unreliability: The U.S., rather than helping Iraq in its fight against terrorism, exacerbated the crisis by manipulating extremist groups and creating conditions for its military presence—behavior that was mirrored during the Syrian conflict.
Nature of terrorism: Groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS have not fundamentally changed; their sponsors continue to adapt them to new circumstances.
Role of the Zionist Regime: Israel exploits instability in Syria for occupation and aggression, and it would undoubtedly intensify similar actions elsewhere in the region if given the chance.

Iraq’s response to crisis creation
Drawing from past experiences and a clear understanding of its allies and enemies, Iraq has successfully countered terrorism and separatism. By legalizing and supporting Hashd al-Shaabi, advocating for Syria’s unity, cooperating with Iran on security, and opposing Zionist aggression, Iraq demonstrates a steadfast resistance strategy.

As the U.S. and Israel seek to create new crises in the region, the Iraqi people and leadership will remain vigilant, refusing to let their country become a tool for destructive policies.

The unshakeable model of Resistance
The region’s political and security turbulence cannot undermine the resistance strategy, which has proven effective against threats like extremist terrorism and the Zionist regime’s aggression.

Three decades of costly experiences in West Asia show that reliance on imported security from the West offers no reliable foundation for lasting peace. Such dependency would make the region’s development and progress subject to external powers, turning its resources into tools for serving their interests.
