Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, and Syrian Foreign Minister, Bassam al-Sabbagh, met on Tuesday and consulted on various issues.

Nournews: Bassam al-Sabbagh, Syria’s Foreign Minister, who traveled to Tehran with a delegation, met with Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister. The two exchanged views on various issues.
The conversations mainly focused on mutual areas of interest and the most important regional issues.
The two parties held a press conference after their meeting behind closed doors.

Araghchi described his meeting with the Syrian Foreign Minister as positive and said they discussed developments in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as the strong and strategic ties with the Syrian representative.

He noted that there is a strong and infinite willingness to expand cooperation in various fields.

“We stood with the people of Syria in the past, we are standing with them now, and we will stand with them in the future,” said Araghchi.

He added, “We welcome the stability and integrity of Syria and condemn any attempt aimed at making this country unsafe. The extended warmongering of the Zionist regime, from Palestine to Lebanon and Syria, indicates the aggressive, dominance-seeking, and criminal nature of the Zionist regime, which seeks to violate peace and stability in the region. We expect the global community and the United Nations to end their current inaction and condemn these crimes.”

Araghchi also said, “I think Iran has proved its strategy to the Zionist regime and anyone who is tempted to threaten Iran.

“We will not allow any aggression against Iran’s soil to go unanswered. Regarding the recent aggression by the Zionist regime, we have stated that Iran considers itself entitled to respond to this aggression as part of its defense policy.”

He continued, saying that Iran has always demonstrated its smart and wise decision-making. “We are neither hesitant nor do we delay. We avoid emotional decisions and respond at the right time.”

Araghchi emphasized that the policy of pressure does not work. “We have proven that when they pursued a maximum pressure policy, Iran responded with maximum resistance. According to the admissions of American officials, their policy has failed.”

The Syrian Foreign Minister stated, “The escalation in the region aligns with American and Zionist projects aimed at redesigning our region, using Israel as a tool. While we have successfully expelled many terrorist groups, the north of Syria remains a hub for several terrorist factions that we are actively fighting."

Al-Sabbagh added that the Zionist regime has failed to achieve its goals and seeks to distract Syria by creating issues within its territory. “However, we remain focused and do not pay attention to their provocations," he said.

The Syrian Prime Minister noted that the two countries share common commissions, including an economic joint commission that is set to begin its sessions in Damascus soon.

Sabbagh emphasized the need to establish new mechanisms to mitigate the damages caused by sanctions.

“The region is witnessing various developments stemming from the crimes of the Zionist regime, starting with the invasion of Palestine and extending to Lebanon. We have also observed these crimes on Syrian soil,” he stated. “The attack on Iran’s consulate in Syria, which we condemned, is one such example.”

Sabbagh continued, “We have made it clear that the crimes of the Zionist regime must stop before humanitarian aid can be sent to the affected regions. The Zionist regime must be held accountable. We stand against any occupation and fully support Iran’s right to confront any such crimes.”

The Syrian minister called for an end to the Zionist occupation of the Golan Heights and stressed the importance of mutual cooperation in combating terrorism and dismantling all its support systems. “We highlighted the fact that certain countries are backing terrorist groups," he said.

“Some countries are engaging in destructive actions against our nation, but we are hopeful that collaboration between us will continue to grow," he concluded.
