Hezbollah said in a statement on Sunday night that it downed one Israeli Hermes-900 drone which infiltrated Lebanese territory and forced another drone to retreat into the occupied Palestinian territory.
“In support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in support of their valiant and honorable resistance, and in defense of Lebanon and its people, the fighters in the Air Defense units of the Islamic Resistance at 4:30 PM on Sunday, 20-10-2024, confronted an Israeli Hermes-900 drone and forced it to leave the Lebanese airspace,” the resistance movement said.
Hezbollah also launched a salvo of rockets at the port city of Haifa.
The resistance movement said that “as part of the Khaybar series of operations and in response to the attacks and massacres committed by the Zionist enemy, and with the call of ‘We are at your service O Nasrallah,’ the fighters of the Islamic Resistance, at 4:00 PM on Sunday 20-10-2024, bombed the ‘Tira Carmel’ base with a qualitative rocket barrage.”
In addition, the group targeted a command and supply center at the Samson military base, west of Lake Tabariyya, as well as the Israeli regime's Tirat Carmel military base.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah fighters also struck Israeli troop gatherings at several locations, including in the Beria missile base, the town of Markaba, Qalaa Heights, and Hounin barracks, reportedly inflicting casualties.
Lebanon’s official National News Agency had reported Israeli bombardment in Beirut, south Lebanon and the eastern Bekaa Valley.
Israel has been targeting Lebanon since October 2023, when it launched a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
Hezbollah has been responding to the aggression with numerous retaliatory operations, targeting the occupied Palestinian territories.
Since late September, Israel has escalated its strikes against Hezbollah, assassinating its leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and a number of its senior figures.
At least 2,350 people have been killed by Israeli fire, and 10,906 others wounded since the clashes began last year, according to the health ministry.
The Lebanese resistance movement has vowed to keep up its operations against Israel as long as the Israeli regime continues its Gaza war, which has so far killed at least 42,519 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
