Iran in talks over gas, transportation, electricity agreements with neighbors: Pezeshkian

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that in his two-day visit to Turkmenistan, he has had inclusive talks over gas, transportation electricity and border market agreements with his counterparts from neighboring countries.

Pezeshkian, who was speaking upon arrival in Tehran on Friday, said that economic working groups will be formed over the next month to finalize and sign the agreements.

He described the visit of key cultural and economic significance as he met with counterparts from four countries, including Turkmenistan, Russia, and Uzbekistan.

Pezeshkian said that in his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, they discussed different energy, railroad, and petrochemical projects.

He noted that he and his Russian counterpart also discussed the role Russia could play in regional developments and as well as the need for a more serious reaction to the Zionist regime's crimes in Gaza and Lebanon.

President Pezeshkian argued that upgraded ties with neighboring countries could ease the pressure of sanctions.

Pezeshkian calls for expansion of all-out ties with Uzbekistan

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stressed the need to expand relations with Uzbekistan in all spheres, particularly in science and industry.

Pezeshkian made the remarks on Friday in the meeting with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the sidelines of the International Conference «Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – the Basis of Peace and Development» held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

Iran's president invited his Uzbek counterpart to pay a visit to Tehran soon, stating that the capacities of the Islamic Republic in industry and science can be focal points in the forthcoming talks.

For his part, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan expressed his country's willingness to leverage Iran's know-how in the areas of science, culture, education, and industry.

Voicing satisfaction over Pezeshkian's invitation, he called for forming a joint commission to help speed up the expansion of mutual ties.
