Harris, in a statement released on the White House website, echoed President Joe Biden's support for the Israeli regime's action, calling it "justice" for the victims of Nasrallah's "decades-long reign of terror".
Harris claimed that Nasrallah was a terrorist responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Americans and thousands of civilians in the Middle East. She said his death in an Israeli airstrike was a measure of justice for his victims.
However, Harris's statement ignored the Israeli regime's crimes against humanity in Gaza over the past year, which have resulted in the deaths of over 40,000 people and injured tens of thousands. The Israeli regime's recent attacks on Lebanon, including airstrikes and wireless communication device explosions, have also been carried out with direct US support, resulting in civilian casualties.
Despite this, Harris reiterated her "unwavering commitment" to Israel's security, saying she would always support Israel's right to defend itself against Iran and Iranian-backed terrorist groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis.
Harris also claimed that she and Biden do not want to see conflict in the Middle East escalate into a broader regional war and are working on a diplomatic solution to bring civilians home.
In a contradictory statement, Harris said that diplomacy is the best path forward to protect civilians and achieve lasting stability in the region.
Harris' assertion that the US seeks to prevent the conflict from escalating into a broader regional war in the Middle East comes as the Israeli military acknowledges that it used F-35 fighter jets and dozens of American-made bombs to kill Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
