Nournews: The president made these remarks during a meeting with members of the National Security Council and the Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament.
Defining the approach and discourse of the 14th government, Pezeshkian described national accord, unity, and cohesion as the facilitators of success in foreign policy.
“We believe the country's survival is tied to accord and achieving a unified language and viewpoints in solving the country’s problems,” he said, adding that this is supported by Quranic verses as well as scientific evidence.
Pezeshkian said that decision-making in the country would be based on evidence, documents, and expert opinion. “When consensus and evidence-based arguments, beyond religious, ethnic, and political views, become the basis of decision-making, conflicts will disappear. We are working to institutionalize this discourse in the country.”
He reiterated that continued interaction and ties with the world, based on mutual respect, will remain the axis of movement in his government’s foreign policy.
“We have repeatedly said that we have no quarrel with any country, with peace, friendship, and the expansion of ties in line with mutual understanding and respect as our intention.”
However, he added, “We do not embrace force.”
The president said that, unfortunately, certain countries claiming to be pro-democracy and pro-human rights are supporting the most violent criminals in Gaza. “It is very interesting that they want to teach us democracy.”
He stressed that these countries must answer how, aside from any religion or belief, they justify backing the killing of tens of thousands of women and children, bombing schools and hospitals, while at the same time accusing other nations of not respecting human rights or pressuring them for having defensive capabilities.
Pezeshkian emphasized the need to update communication and interaction with neighboring countries, in line with the country’s needs and today’s requirements. He noted that parliaments play a significant role in this regard.
“The administration has prioritized agreements and deals signed with neighboring countries in sectors such as gas, energy, transportation, and transit, while activating border markets to transform Iran into a regional exchange hub,” he said, adding that the parliaments of involved countries play a crucial role in this process.
