The final match of the men's sitting volleyball competition of the Paris Paralympics was held on Friday night between the national volleyball teams of Iran and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Iran’s team defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-1 in the final to clinch the gold medal, fifth gold and 21st medal for the country.
Iran lost the first set to Bosnia but won the second set with difficulty, but in the third and fourth sets, the Iranian team defeated the opponent with authority and won the Paralympic competition for the eighth time.
Meanwhile, Yasin Khosravi also claimed gold in the men's shot put F57 at the Paris Paralympics, bringing the country its sixth gold and 20th-second medal.
In his best throw, Khosravi recorded 15.96 meters and won the championship and the gold medal. He was able to break the record of the Paralympic Games.
Earlier in the day, Rouhollah Rostami clinched gold in men's 80kg para powerlifting at the Paris Paralympics, earning the fourth gold and 20th medal for Iran in the competition.
Rostami lifted 242kg, while China's Gu Xiaofei took the silver medal with 225kg and Iraq's Rasool Mohsin claimed the bronze with 215kg.
By lifting 242 kg weight, Rostami broke the world and Paralympic records.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian congratulated Rostami for winning the gold medal at the Paris Paralympics.
"Our dear wrestler, Ruhollah Rostami, you did wonders in the Paralympics and raised the proud flag of Iran. Congratulations on winning the gold medal," he wrote.
On the ninth day of the 17th edition of the Paralympic Games Iranian athletes won three valuable gold medals and rose to the 15th place in the ranking table and spiked several steps in the medal distribution table.
