Leading the way for Iran were the Greco-Roman wrestlers, with Saeed Esmaeili and Mohammad-Hadi Saravi claiming gold in the 67kg and 97kg categories, respectively. Alireza Mohammadi added a silver medal in the 87kg division. In freestyle wrestling, Hassan Yazdani (86kg), Amir-Hossein Zare (125kg), and Rahman Amouzad (65kg) each earned silver medals.
Taekwondo also proved to be a successful sport for Iran, as Arian Salimi kicked his way to gold in the +80kg category. Mehran Barkhordari (-82kg) and Nahid Kiani (-57kg) demonstrated their skills to take home silver medals. Mobina Nematzadeh broke down barriers as she claimed a bronze medal in the -49kg category.
Adding to Iran's medal tally, Amin Mirzazadeh showed his mettle in the Greco-Roman wrestling 130kg division, winning bronze. Amir-Ali Azarpira grappled his way to a bronze medal in the 97kg category of freestyle wrestling.
With a total of three gold, six silver, and three bronze medals, the Iranian sports delegation, consisting of 40 athletes across 14 disciplines, demonstrated their prowess and determination at the 33-day sporting event.
The US dominated the medal table at the Paris Olympics, topping the standings with 40 gold medals and 126 total medals. China followed closely behind with 40 golds and a total of 91 medals.
As the 33rd Olympic Games drew to a close on August 11, Iran celebrated its athletic achievements and looked forward to continued success in future competitions.
