NOURNEWS: Iran produced 6.6 terawatt-hours of nuclear electricity, showing a 1 percent increase compared to the previous year.
The production of nuclear electricity has shown a 5 percent growth under the 13th government. Iran produced 6.4 terawatt-hours of nuclear electricity in 2020, which coincided with the last year of the 12th government.
Iran is among a few countries utilizing nuclear electricity. In 2023, only 33 countries, including Iran, produced electricity through nuclear facilities.
The total nuclear electricity production in the world stood at 2737 terawatt-hours. This figure showed a 2.2 percent growth compared with the previous year.
Iran ranked 30th in the world in the production of nuclear electricity last year. Iran’s share of the world’s total nuclear electricity was 0.2 percent this year. The US is the largest producer of nuclear electricity, generating 29 percent of the world’s total nuclear electricity in 2023, despite its opposition to Iran’s nuclear activity. France, with a 12.4 percent share of the world’s total nuclear electricity, ranks third, following China with a 15.9 percent share.
The UAE has recently joined the club of nuclear electricity producers. The country produced more than 32 terawatt-hours of nuclear electricity in 2023, showing a 60 percent growth compared to the previous year.
