Archeological excavations have begun at the historical site of Ghalay-Chi Cemetery in Boukan. The cemetery dates back 2800 years.

NOURNEWS: Located in West Azarbaijan province, the historical mound of Ghalay-Chi dates back to the Iron Age and belongs to the Mannaea Kingdom. It is the first time that the site is being excavated.

Ghalay-Chi is the same place that was looted by illegal excavators and smugglers in the early 1980s. Among the most important looted items were 51 pieces of glazed bricks.
