Jalali told IRNA’s correspondent in Moscow on Saturday that Iran and Russia are waiting for foreign ministers of the two countries to put their signatures on the partnership deal so that they can complete formalities related to the adoption of the agreement in their respective governments and parliaments.
He said that lawmakers in the Iranian and Russian parliaments will be able to openly discuss the terms of the partnership agreement when they vote on the document.
“Some people shouldn't think that this agreement is secret and confidential, but it is completely clear,” said the ambassador.
Jalali said co-chairs of an Iranian-Russian intergovernmental committee will emphasize in an upcoming committee meeting in Tehran that the partnership agreement should be finalized as soon as possible.
He expressed hope that the agreement could be adopted by parliaments of Iran and Russia in the Iranian calendar year starting late March.
Russian Foreign Ministry said in December that the Moscow and Tehran will speed up work on the major agreement.
Iran and Russia have sought to significantly expand their cooperation in recent years in a bid to offset sanctions imposed on their economies and militaries by Western countries.
