What “the Israeli government is doing is not war, it is genocide,” Lula said at a public event and then posted his comments on social media.
“Children and women are being murdered,” he said, calling on people to read for themselves what he had said about the Israeli regime instead of “judging me based on the speech of the Prime Minister of Israel.”
In a speech to the 37th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Sunday, Lula also likened the genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to the one committed by Hitler against the Jews.
He said the war in Gaza is a battle between an armed-to-the-teeth army and civilians, rather than between soldiers and soldiers.
Lula’s remarks, meanwhile, led to the Zionist regime declaring him as “persona non grata”.
Since the beginning of the war in Gaza on October 7, the Israeli regime’s military has killed at least 29,514 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in the besieged territory.
