“The main reason behind the current crisis in the region is Israel's brutal military operations in the Gaza Strip”, Polyanskiy, according to Russian Tass news agency, told at the UN Security Council meeting on Yemen.
Referring to Yemen’s anti-Israel operations in the Red Sea, the Russian diplomat said that Israeli attacks on Gaza have caused a chain reaction throughout the Middle East region, including the actions of the Ansarullah movement.
“An immediate ceasefire in Gaza will have a stabilizing effect on the situation in the Red Sea”, he emphasized.
Polyanskiy also criticized the United States and Britain for their aggression against Yemen, arguing that the "unmeasured actions" of the two countries "put the UN mediation in a difficult position."
"Every new attack on Yemeni soil leads to an escalation of tension and weakens the prospect of normalization of the situation in this country," he warned.
The United States and Britain, along with 8 other countries, started aerial bombardments of Yemen last month after a UN Security Council resolution on the Red Sea.
Attacks on Yemen sparked international criticism, with some countries accusing Washington and London of falsely using the resolution to protect the maritime interest of the Zionist regime.
The Yemini army has targeted dozens of ships belonging to the Israeli regime or others heading to Israeli ports in the occupied Palestinian territories in response to Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
