Details of sabotage in nationwide gas pipeline

“No need for concerns. The nationwide gas pipeline blast is under control, and currently, there are no gas cuts in any area. We are experiencing a drop in gas pressure, which will soon be resolved.”

NOURNEWS: A nationwide gas pipeline explosion occurred in two provinces: Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari and Fars, near Dasht-e Halvaee, around 1 a.m. on February 14, as a result of sabotage.

The incident was appropriately managed, with aid workers, firefighters, technical agents, traffic police, and relief workers arriving on the scene promptly to extinguish the fire.

The crisis management meeting was convened in the early hours to investigate the issue and examine the cause of the explosion, with the presence of the Oil Minister, deputies from relevant ministries, and security entities.

According to Fatah Karami, the governor of the city of Brojen in Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Province where the explosion occurred, Brojen Road near Dasht-e Halvaee was blocked in the early hours due to the extensive spread of fire. However, it reopened after 2 hours, and traffic is currently flowing in the region.

Despite the occurrence of this explosion, although the residential gas supply in Brojen and Gandoman was temporarily cut off and later restored, fortunately, this incident did not result in any loss of life.

"The pipeline blast has been extinguished, and restoration operations on the pipeline have begun," said Saeed Aghli, the head of the Iranian National Gas Company for dispatching, adding "we hope that the pipeline will be repaired and operational as soon as possible."

According to him, the required liquid fuel and LPG are currently provided in these areas, and will be made available to the villages.

He asked people not to worry and added that investigations into the sabotage are underway by the relevant authorities.

"Meanwhile, a few hours ago, the head of the Lorestan Crisis Management Headquarters announced that following last night’s blast in the gas pipeline, gas supply is cut off in all offices, government entities, and industrial units until further notice."
