NOURNEWS- At the same time as the public sentiments in Britain are rising following the unfortunate death of a two-year-old child from starvation, “BBC” announced in a report; After his father died of a heart attack, he was alone at home next to his father's body for several days and died of starvation. This issue led to widespread criticism, including from the child's mother, to the social services organization and the performance of the workers, who were met with closed doors three times when they visited this house. This is despite the fact that later it became clear that after this event, the thief attacked their empty and sealed house.
While this tragedy once again brought the indifference and irresponsibility of British government institutions towards children to the top of the media outlets, it made the issue of social workers' irresponsibility and the fall of moral standards in British society the topic of the day in the media. It is said that the social worker who was aware of the child living with his 60-year-old father, left the place without knowing their condition.
Shocking statistics of child victims of assault and murder
Of course, this 2-year-old child is not the only victim of the systematic inefficiency of the British ruling structure; As in the summer of 2023, English media reported the murder of a 10-year-old girl near London and wrote: The father, stepmother, and uncle of “Sara Sharif” whose body was found in an unfinished house near London, have been prosecuted for murder. However, the British government media, “BBC”, focusing on the Pakistani origin of this child's family, tried to downplay the place where this crime took place, which is England, and to incite Islamophobia instead, while reports indicate 493 cases of sexual abuse of children in hospitals, mental health units and general surgery centers in England, with at least 171 victims under the age of 13 registered by 32 police units.
Reports have also been published about the murder of children in England, which shows the depth of the tragedy. In this regard, the Guardian wrote in a report: “Arthur Labinjo-Hughes, Star Hobson, Finley Bowden and Jacob Crouch” were killed in a seven-month period in 2020 after being abused by the adults they were supposed to care for. Six-year-old Arthur was murdered by his stepmother in June 2020 after weeks of torture, including poisoning with salty drinks and 14 hours in solitary confinement. “Star Hobson” was killed by his mother's friend on September 16, 2020. 10-month-old Finlay Bowden was found dead by his parents on Christmas Day 2020 after suffering 130 separate injuries. Not long ago, the trial of a nurse who killed 7 babies in the hospital was held.
In this regard, the case of “Jimmy Saville”, the BBC presenter, who had sexually abused at least 500 children before he died in 2011, was named as one of the most controversial issues in the previous years in England, he had assaulted 14 girls, including a 10-year-old girl, between 1967 and 1985.
Of course, this type of corruption and harassment is also systematically going on in the royal family; As recently, in the case of sexual abuse of underage girls, the name of Prince “Andrew”, the brother of the King of England, is included in this case of crimes against children.
Increasing death of children due to neglect
British government statistics show that between 2020 and 2021, there were 223 child deaths due to abuse or neglect, an increase of 188 from the previous year.
Critics blame the British government for reducing support services for children and adolescents; Because government statistics show that more than 16,000 children in England face sexual exploitation every year, and at least 27,000 children are at risk of being exploited by organized criminal gangs.
The danger of poverty lurking in English children
In this regard, the British Ministry of Labor and Pension Affairs announced; 4.2 million children, equivalent to 29% of the population under the age of 18, were in relative poverty in the year ending April 2022. According to this report, more than one million English children have experienced poverty in one year. Of course, this issue does not only return to the current era; As statistics show, the number of poor English children increased from 2.3 million people in 2013 to more than 2.6 million people in 2014, and this upward trend has continued until today.
